Fresh Starts
New Beginnings?
How many can we have? Life is long, in a way. And we should allow ourselves to restart and have new beginnings multiple times in our lifespan.
I want to start writing again, writing blog posts that is. I think there's a certain bliss in dumping ones thoughts and freezing them, uploading them online. I haven't been consistent in the past but this time, who knows, I might be able to keep it up.
The Pattern of Returns
Looking back, this isn't my first "fresh start" with writing. In 2015, I wrote about wanting to write more and think less. In 2017, I reflected on rethinking my approach to writing. Now, eight years later, here I am again with the same desire.
There's something comforting about these cycles. Each time I return to writing, I bring new experiences, perspectives, and hopefully a bit more wisdom. These periods of silence weren't failures—they were simply seasons where life pulled me in different directions.
Why Writing Matters
Writing serves multiple purposes for me:
- Mental clarity - Articulating thoughts forces me to organize them in a coherent way
- Memory preservation - Looking back at old posts creates a time capsule of who I was
- Connection - Even if few people read these words, they exist as breadcrumbs of human experience
- Growth - The act of writing regularly is a practice that builds discipline and skill
In a world of fleeting social media posts and endless content streams, there's something rebellious about crafting longer-form thoughts and giving them a permanent home.
This Time Around
What's different about this fresh start? Perhaps nothing, perhaps everything. I'm older now, with different priorities and perspectives. The technology landscape has changed dramatically since my last writing streak.
Rather than promising consistency or setting rigid goals, I'm approaching this return with gentleness. Write when inspired. Write what feels meaningful. Write without judgment.
This isn't about building an audience or establishing authority—it's about reclaiming a practice that has always brought me value, whenever I've made space for it.
Moving Forward
Fresh starts don't require erasing the past. They simply ask us to begin again from where we are now. The gaps and inconsistencies in my writing history are part of the story, not detractions from it.
So here's to new beginnings, whenever and however often we need them. Life gives us countless opportunities to reinvent, return, and rediscover what matters. This is just one of mine.
